Afro Chant – 2005

Afro Chant is a painting that embodies the spirit of community and spiritual connection. In this piece, I sought to portray the vibrant energy of everyday people coming together in dance and unity. The scene pulses with movement, rhythm, and a profound sense of togetherness, where everyone uplifts one another on a spiritual level.

Afro Chant is a painting that captures the essence of community and spiritual connection. In this piece, I wanted to portray the energy and vibe of everyday people coming together in dance and unity. The scene is filled with movement, rhythm, and a sense of togetherness, where everyone is supporting one another on a spiritual level.

This painting reflects a theme that is close to my heart—spiritual awakening and the power of community support. The figures in the painting are not just dancing; they are sharing a moment of deep connection, where the energy of the group lifts everyone up. It’s about how we, as a community, can come together to find strength, joy, and spiritual growth.

I included myself in the canvas because the idea of community support and unity is something I have always longed for and wanted to encourage in others.  Afro Chant is a visual representation of that longing—a reminder that we are all part of a larger community, and when we come together, we create something beautiful and powerful.

Through this painting, I hope to inspire others to find their own sense of community, to connect with those around them, and to experience the spiritual uplift that comes from being part of a supportive and united group.
