The painting A Blood Red Sky illustrates a moment when I sat silently with a my newly found acquaintances in the desert of Botswana, Africa. It was such a lovely evening and the lighting was superb. It was such a serene moment for me, to sit in front of fire silently staring at the flames. No doubt that my favourite times in Africa were when I was being still, appreciating the majestic surroundings.
I had never been to a desert before and the sky had such a profound affect on my psyche. There a vastness of Mochudi, the village where I resided, only a few hills obstructed the view of the flat, dusty plains. I was also introduced to the almost prehistoric looking trees the Baobob, often referred to as the “Tree of Life”. So aptly name for its regenerative and life affirming quality.
This paining represents that endearing time in my life, when I was young and free to explore Mother Africa.
